Civil War re-enactors take over Mill Creek Park

Mike Friend, center of top photo, of McDonald and Russell Koneval of Youngstown, along with the rest of the Confederate 4th Alabama company, take the bridge at Mill Creek Park's Lanterman's Mill during a Civil War re-enactment. The staged battle took place Saturday. At left, Tom Frederick of Angola, Ind., loads his gun during the re-enactment. He was part of a Union regiment. Below, Kayla Fulper, 4, of Ravenna plugs her ears as gunshots are fired during the staged battle. The re-enactment was dedicated to Kayla's grandfather, Wayne Roosa of Ravenna, who recently died. Roosa was a re-enacter with the 5th Texas company. Roosa owned a business in Ravenna called Elizabeth Ann II, which outfitted local re-enacters. His family plans to keep the business open.
