Bicyclists to bring message on poverty to area churches



CANFIELD -- The Brake the Cycle ride to call attention to poverty will stop in the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown on July 25 and 26. Bicycle riders left San Francisco on June 1 and plan to be in Washington, D.C. The ride is part of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Catholic Campaign for Human Development.
Riders will be at St. Joseph Parish in Mantua early July 25, where they will meet riders from St. Ambrose Parish. They will go to St. Ambrose Parish for lunch, and the parish cyclists will escort the national riders to St. Mary Parish in Newton Falls.
The national riders are to arrive at St. Michael Parish in Canfield about 4 p.m. and meet their housing sponsors. A dinner will be at 6 p.m. A national CCHD representative and the cyclists will speak at a program at 7 p.m. that will recognize local CCHD grant recipients: North Star Patchwork Training Center, Parish Based Hispanic Evangelization Project, Immigrant Housing Pre-Development, Impact: the Rank and File Newsletter; and A.C.T.I.O.N. Fellowship follows.
On July 26, cyclists will visit St. Jude Parish in Columbiana.
