Tear gas employed to evacuate man
BOARDMAN -- After an eight-hour standoff, tear gas was used at the home of a Lemoyne Avenue man who had refused to allow Mahoning County deputy sheriffs to serve him with a probate court order Thursday afternoon, police said.
Deputies, who arrived at 48-year-old Michael Cutic's home at about 4 p.m. Thursday, called for backup when he wouldn't open the door, said Maj. Michael Budd at the sheriff's department. Boardman police arrived, as did members of the Violent Crimes Task Force.
Budd said Cutic was removed from his home shortly after midnight and taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, the destination noted on the probate court order.
