XYOUNGSTOWN -- The Rev. Dr. Larry Kline heard the exchange of marriage vows between Shirley M. Swope and Monty Lopez Jr., both of 21 Elva Ave., during a ceremony at 3 p.m. June 14 at the Chapel of Friendly Bells.
The bride is a daughter of the late Diana Swope. The groom is a son of Monty Sr. and Carmen Lopez, 158 Lilburne Drive.
After being honored at a reception in Youngstown, the couple left for a honeymoon cruise to Cozumel, Mexico.
Honor attendants were Melissa J. Swope, the bride's sister, and Tina Lopez, the groom's sister. Bridesmaids were Marsha Swope, the bride's sister; Kathy McGarry, the bride's aunt; Nydia Galdamez, the groom's sister; Gladys Rivera and Maryann Rivera. They wore dresses in lavender, yellow and white. Mini bride was Kashmire Brown, the bride's niece, and flower girl was Yessenia Andujar, the niece of the groom.
Performing the duties of best man was Marko Roman. Groomsmen were Michael Solis, the cousin of the groom; Christian Galdamez, the groom's brother-in-law; Tom McGarry, the bride's uncle; Edwin Andujar; Shawn Howard; Santana Crespo and Jose Rivera. The groom's nephew, Christian Galdamez, was ring bearer.
The groom graduated from New Castle School of Trades with an associate degree in auto technology. He is the manager of Auto Zone in Liberty. A veteran of Desert Storm, he served in the U.S. Army.
