Conference USA to enforce bylaw
Conference USAto enforce bylaw
CHICAGO -- Conference USA officials have voted to enforce a bylaw preventing member schools from leaving before June 30, 2005.
The move will not keep any school from leaving the conference, but shows that the Chicago-based conference is prepared to fight to maintain its membership.
The Big East is reportedly considering extending an invitation to the Louisville Cardinals because Miami and Virginia Tech have moved to the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The 11-team league was formed in 1995.
NCAA considersnew bracket setup
INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA will consider a proposal that would allow the selection committee for the men's basketball tournament to set up the brackets to make for the best matchups in the Final Four.
If the plan is approved, the selection committee would determine on selection Sunday which regions will play against each other at the Final Four. In the past, the pairings of the regional champions at the Final Four have been predetermined.
Under a proposal that will go before the NCAA's championship and competition cabinets in September, the selection committee would schedule what it expected to be the most competitive matchups for the Final Four.
