WARREN -- Maggie Liggens-Adams of Pasadena, Calif., formerly of Youngstown, will speak at 11 a.m. today at Alpha and Omega Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She founded the Royal Aires Gospel Singers. The registered nurse is on the staff of the University Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Los Angeles as a Sabbath school superintendent. An afternoon session will include a health film presentation followed by a discussion.
Catholic award given
HUBBARD -- St. Patrick Parish, Hubbard, and St. Paul the Apostle Parish, New Middletown, have honored volunteer teachers with the Pius X Award for many years of service.
St. Patrick Parish honored Dee Fitzsimmons for 25 years, Ida Leonelli for 18 years and Norma Masluk for 15 years, as Confraternity of Christian Doctrine teachers.
St. Paul Parish honored John Pasternak for 30 years of service as a CCD teacher, Confirmation team member and Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults teacher.
The award is named for Pope Pius X who called for the religious instruction of all Catholics.
Quartet to perform
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Blackwood Gospel Quartet will perform at New Covenant Worship Center at 7 p.m. July 19. An offering will be taken. The quartet, which was formed in 1934, has recorded over 200 albums and has been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
Youth crusade in park
LIBERTY -- A crusade for youths age 13 and up will be at 5:30 p.m. July 28 at Churchill Park. James Bowie from Union Baptist Church will be the speaker. The crusade will also feature youth ministers, a mime group, a gospel rapper, choirs and praise teams.
Crusade and revival set
YOUNGSTOWN -- A three-day crusade-revival will be held at First Calvary Baptist Church at 7 p.m. Friday through July 20. The guest speaker will be evangelist Berna Brown of Saginaw, Mich.
Humility theme for walk

BOARDMAN -- Gladys Bollinger of Message of Love Ministries will be the guest speaker at the Flame Fellowship Meeting at noon July 21 at the Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Park. STRUTHERS -- A song service will be held at 6 p.m. today at Pilgrim Baptist Church in honor of Evelyn Burton, who is running for Queen of the Woman's Ministry of the United Missionary Baptist State Convention of Ohio. Guests will include the Inspirational Choir and the Weeden Family Singers, both of Cleveland. An offering will be taken.
Bus trip scheduled
AUSTINTOWN -- The Marian Movement of St. Joseph Church is sponsoring a bus trip to see the Rev. John Corapi speak Oct. 18 at St. Barnabas Church in Northfield, Ohio. The event will include Mass. The bus will leave the church at 6 a.m. and return at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $15. Individuals must submit their own registration form and a $20 fee. Call (330) 792-9263.
