Class B seriesrained out again
STRUTHERS -- For the second straight day, the Class B League championship series was postponed because of inclement weather.
Line Drive, trailing 1-0 in the series, held an 8-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning at Cene Park when the contest was suspended because of lightning.
Heavy rain stopped the game, which was scheduled to resume today at Cene 1 at 5 p.m. The teams will continue with games at 6:30 and 8.
Panezich, Kinseyin Canada
Nick Panezich of Springfield High and Don Kinsey of Beaver Local are among 60 members of the USA Track and Field Youth World Team that will compete in the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Youth Championships this week in Sherbrooke, Canada.
Competing for the Austintown Community Track Club which is a member of USA Track and Field, they are the only athletes from Ohio in the international meet.
They qualified in various meets held this year.
Panezich will compete in the shot put and serve as an alternate in the discus, while Kinsey will vie in the Octalalon.
Both fared well in the USA Track & amp; Field Youth Athletics meet held in Buffalo from last Thursday through Sunday.
Panezich placed second in shot put (55 feet, 2 inches), fifth in discus (159-0) and seventh in javelin (personal-best 145-0), while Kinsey was fourth in javelin (166-10) and eighth in discus (147-2).
In addition, George Fetchko of Howland was sixth in discus (158-6).
John Nastaseselects Mount Union
ALLIANCE -- Baseball standout John Nastase of Girard High will continue his career at Mount Union College.
Nastase received one varsity letter and earned honorable mention All-TAC honors, and is expected to major in information systems.
Scrappers' Conroybatter of the week
NILES -- For his performance from June 30 to July 6 the Mahoning Valley Scrappers' Mike Conroy has been named the New York-Penn League Batter of the Week.
In seven games, Conroy went 14-for-30 for a .467 average. He had four doubles, one triple, a home run, scored five runs and had eight RBIs.
Conroy also slugged .767 and had an on base percentage of .484.
Sachire advances
GRANBY, Canada -- Ryan Sachire of Canfield, seeded fourth in the Granby Challenger qualifying tournament has won three matches so far.
The futures up and coming pro, Sachire defeated Shiv Oberoi of Canada, 6-2, 6-2 in the first round; Brad Weston of Austria , 6-3, 6-1 in the second round and Phillip King of the USA, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (6) and 7-6 (0).
Boxing tournament
NILES -- Former pro boxer Rusty Rosenberger will conduct a body boxing show from 7-10 p.m. on July 20 at the Mount Carmel Church Festival.
Cost is $25 per two-minute round. Gloves and mouthpieces will be provided.

Team selected
INDIANAPOLIS -- Hurdler Allen Johnson was among five defending world champions selected for the U.S. team at the IAAF World Outdoor Track & amp; Field Championships next month in Paris.
Joining 110-meter hurdler Johnson on the team announced by USA Track & amp; Field were shot put champion John Godina, women's pole vaulter Stacy Dragila, 100-meter champ Maurice Greene, and 2001 world indoor and outdoor gold medalist Anjanette Kirkland in the 100 hurdles.
The world championships will be Aug. 23-31.

Raptors sign pick
TORONTO -- First-round draft pick Chris Bosh signed a three-year contract with the Toronto Raptors.
Bosh, the fourth pick in last month's draft, will make about $2.91 million a year under the terms of the NBA's rookie pay scale.
