Sky Financial acquiresInsurance Buyers' Service
BOARDMAN -- Sky Financial Group has acquired Insurance Buyers' Service Agency in Boardman. The local agency has been merged into Sky Insurance effective Monday.
Bowling Green-based Sky, the parent of Sky Bank, exchanged its stock for that of Insurance Buyers' Service. It said all 14 local employees are expected to remain at the Boardman office.
The local agency specializes in providing insurance to physicians. James Lang has been president of the agency since he bought the former Gluck Insurance in 1972. The name was changed in 1995.
Buckeye Egg to shut down
COLUMBUS -- The state has ordered the permanent shutdown of Ohio's largest egg producer because of years of complaints about pollution, foul odors and flies. Buckeye Egg Farm was given until next June to close its 90 remaining barns and has until September 2004 to remove all manure.
