Downtown outage zaps power at WRBP

YOUNGSTOWN -- A power outage in the Wick Building on Federal Plaza knocked WRBP-FM Radio 101.9 off the air at about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Paul Harkey, the Ohio Edison area manager, said today power has been partly restored to the building and the rest should be restored today.
Harkey was unsure if the radio station's problems were related to Tuesday's outage because the equipment is underground.
Power was restored to other downtown buildings about 7 p.m. Tuesday after a transformer on Front Street malfunctioned during a storm.
Despite the radio station's power outage, preparations continue for the "Tom Joyner Sky Show," a live program that will be broadcast nationwide from Edward W. Powers Auditorium from 6-10 a.m. Friday, a WRBP spokeswoman said.
