UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Taj McWilliams-Franklin had 21 points and nine rebounds as Connecticut overcame a 16-point second-half deficit. Shannon Johnson and Nykesha Sales sparked the Sun's second-half rally, scoring six points each over the final 3 minutes, 27 seconds. An 18-foot jumper by Sales with 1:15 remaining put the Sun ahead 57-55, and her two free throws with 18.2 seconds remaining sealed the win. Sales finished with 14 points and became the 21st player in WNBA history to reach 2,000 career points. Adrienne Johnson added eight points and six rebounds off the bench. Tari Phillips had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Liberty. Vickie Johnson had 12 points and Crystal Robinson added 11. McWilliams-Franklin was the only Sun starter with a field goal in the first half as Connecticut fell behind early. The Sun made just three of their first 20 shots and finished the half 7-for-31 (22.6 percent). New York led 32-20 at the break. It was the lowest field-goal percentage and the lowest point total by the Sun in any half this season.
Fever 85, Shock 54
INDIANAPOLIS -- Tamika Catchings scored 17 points and Indiana set franchise records for steals and margin of victory. Catchings had six of the Fever's 20 steals, as the Shock turned the ball over 26 times. Catchings also had three of Indiana's 11 3-pointers, which tied a franchise record. Kristin Rasmussen added 16 points and Natalie Williams had 11 points, eight rebounds and three steals for the Fever. Detroit took its only lead after two free throws by Deanna Nolan made the score 2-0. Sheila Lambert led the Shock with 14 points, while Cheryl Ford added 10. After Nolan's free throws, the Fever went on a 17-2 run to take the lead for good.
