NY-PENN LEAGUE Vermont subdues worn-out Scrappers
The Expos won for just the second time this season.

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Vermont took a 5-0 lead and withstood a late Scrappers rally to win 5-2 in Saturday's New York-Penn League game at Centennial Field.
Jesus Colmenter went 2-for-4 and Mike Conroy and Brad Snyder each added an RBI for the Scrappers (11-8), who have dropped two straight. Both Mahoning Valley runs came in the top of the ninth.
Scott Roehl (1-1) gave up four runs (one earned) in five innings to suffer the loss. The Scrappers committed errors in the second, fourth and sixth inning, leading to five of Vermont's six runs.
The game was played one night after the Scrappers lost a 4 hour, 27 minute extra-inning game to Jamestown, followed by an 11-hour bus ride to Vermont.
Tim Sweeney went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Expos (2-17) and Brad Ditter scored two runs.
Jeremy Plaxico (1-1) pitched 52/3 shutout innings to earn the victory.
