WNBA Douglas powers Sun past Rockers

The Monarchs and Fever won league contests.
UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) -- Katie Douglas got off all the shots she wanted against the Cleveland Rockers.
One night after she was unable to get a shot off in a loss at New York, Douglas scored 16 of her 23 points in the second half in the Connecticut Sun's 64-57 victory Wednesday.
Against New York, Sun coach Mike Thibault benched Douglas after 17 minutes.
"He said he thought I just looked hesitant out there. I didn't practice for a couple of days," said Douglas, sidelined for six games this season by a bone chip in her left foot. "I didn't come aggressive like I did tonight."
Douglas had nine of Connecticut's first 12 points in the second half, including two straight 3s. She finished 4-of-5 from 3-point range as Connecticut (7-8) snapped a three-game losing streak.
It was Connecticut's fourth win at the Mohegan Sun casino, a home venue Douglas seems to shine in. She had a career-high 25 points last week in a double-overtime loss to Indiana.
"I wish we could play all the games here. I like the rims," she said. "It's just about being more comfortable out there."
Nykesha Sales added 13 points for Connecticut and Brooke Wyckoff had nine rebounds in her third start of the season.
Chasity Melvin had 17 points and 10 rebounds for Cleveland (6-7). LaToya Thomas and Penny Taylor each scored eight points for the Rockers, who have lost four of five.
The Rockers managed to wrap up speedy Sun guard Shannon Johnson, holding her to eight points, eight below her average.
"We worked well on Johnson and Sales, but we didn't account for Douglas," Cleveland coach Dan Hughes said.
Monarchs 83, Mystics 62
At Sacramento, Calif., Yolanda Griffith scored 20 points as the Monarchs beat Washington.
Tangela Smith added 14 points for Sacramento (7-8). Chamique Holdsclaw had 11 points for Washington (2-10). The Mystics have lost seven straight and 10 of 11.
Fever 79, Mercury 68
At Indianapolis, Tamika Catchings scored 26 points in the Fever's 11th consecutive regular-season victory at home.
Natalie Williams added 23 for Indiana (8-6). Adrian Williams led Phoenix (3-12) with 18 points.
