RECOGNITION Students awarded scholarships by Austintown junior women
The awards were based on grades, community service and outside activities.
AUSTINTOWN -- Scholarships presented by the Austintown Junior Women's League to two students during a graduation ceremony held June 15 at Austintown Fitch High School.
Amy Myers of Austintown, who will major in education at Youngstown State University, received the first portion of a $1,200 four-year renewable award. Roger Blevins of Austintown, who will major in education at Malone College in Canton, was awarded a one-time $500 scholarship.
With the assistance of Linda Johnson, senior class guidance counselor, the education department of the Austintown Junior Women's League screened over 100 applicants and selected the two recipients on the basis of grades, community service and outside activities. This is the eighth year the club has awarded scholarships.
