Official: Come early to catch fireworks in Neshannock Twp.

NESHANNOCK, Pa. -- If you're planning on watching fireworks in Neshannock Township to commemorate Independence Day on Friday, you may want to arrive early, said Philip Carlo, township police superintendent.
The supervisors approved the closing of roadways leading to Pearson Park, where the fireworks show will take place, from 9 to 10:30 p.m. Friday. The show begins at 10.
Carlo said the main reason the roads are being closed is because of complaints from residents last year that cars were parked in and blocking their driveways during the fireworks show.
Mercer Road will be closed from Shenango Road to Mitchell Road. Mitchell Road will be closed to the Neshannock schools.
Carlo said Pearson Park usually fills to capacity by 8 p.m.
He told the supervisors that he has contacted the owner of Field Club Commons and Giant Eagle and was advised that their parking lots will be open to the public.
In other police business, supervisors approved the purchase of two computer systems and a lap-top computer.
The new system will enable on-duty township police officers to access vehicle and driver's license checks along with retrieving data from the National Crime Index and Commonwealth Law Enforcement Network.
The total system will be purchased through Hermitage-based, Star Teck Inc. for $5,000.
