COLUMBIANA Board names new principal for high school



He will receive a base salary of $70,000.
COLUMBIANA -- Ron Iarussi has been appointed principal of Columbiana High School, effective Aug.1, to replace Fred Kunar, who left to become principal at Champion High School.
The Columbiana school board, at a special meeting Thursday, hired Iarussi at a base salary of $70,000 a year under a two-year contract after receiving 30-35 applications and interviewing 10, said Superintendent Patricia Hura.
Most recently, Iarussi was curriculum director for Struthers School District.
Another hiring
The board also hired Amanda Brown as an art teacher for Joshua Dixon Elementary School and South Side Middle School at a $25,564 salary under a one-year contract.
She has one year of art teaching experience in Morgantown, W.Va., She was hired from among 40 applicants, of whom 10 were interviewed.
