CELEBRATION Austintown Lions, Lionesses hold joint installation
Members were honored with humanitarian awards and fellowships.
CANFIELD -- Officers for 2003-2004 were installed by the Austintown Lions Club and Austintown Lioness Club on June 23 at the A La Cart Catering, where the 20th anniversary of the Lioness club was observed.
Lori Stone was installed as Lioness president for her third consecutive term. She is a chief master sergeant at Youngstown Air Reserve Base and has two daughters.
Inducted as her associate officers were Louise Stovall, vice president; Theresa McCallen, secretary; and Eleanor Jensen, treasurer.
The men
Installed as president of the Lions was William Sywy, a stock chaser for General Motors Corp. in Lordstown, who lives in Austintown with his wife, Pat, and has three daughters and a grandchild.
Serving as his associate officers will be John Susany, first vice president; Larry Jensen, second vice president; Brad Martin, third vice president; Don Hoelzel, secretary; Gary Cronewett, treasurer; Jim Donnan, tail twister; Ed Lewis and Bill Kurta, one-year directors; Bob Whited and Jack Kochansky, two-year directors; Perry Ring, membership chairman, and Whited, co-chairman; Larry Jensen, Lioness liaison; and Bob Melcher, immediate past president.
Recognized
Melvin Jones fellowships for humanitarian service were presented by Dwain Hawkins of New Waterford Lions Club and chairman of the district Lions Club International Foundation, to Eleanor Jensen, Jane Grace and Larry Jensen.
Melcher was the recipient of a President's Plaque, presented by Sywy, and perfect attendance awards went to Stone and Melcher.
Stone presided at the event and Whited was toastmaster. Tom Kirkbride of Lisbon Lions Club and deputy district governor-elect, served as speaker and installing officer.
The Lioness Club is dedicated to community service and supporting such causes as providing assistance for handicapped children.
