Schulers to mark golden jubilee at Mass, dinner
XYOUNGSTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. Stephen J. Schuler of Youngstown will be honored at 5:15 p.m. July 18 at a Mass of thanksgiving at St. Dominic Church on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Afterward a dinner reception will be held at the Poland Knights of Columbus Council 4471 Hall. Invitations have been extended for the dinner.
The couple previously celebrated the occasion by attending the June 8 diocesan anniversary remembrance at St. Columba Cathedral.
Hosts for the celebration will be the couple's children and their spouses, Susanne and Lou Kacsandi of Warren; Steve and Carmen Schuler of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; Mary Beth and Lee Mavis of Fredricktown; Don and Barbara Schuler of Youngstown; and Carol and Steve George of Cottage Grove, Minn. Twenty-four grandchildren complete their family.
Mr. Schuler and the former Mary Jean Wierman were married July 18, 1953, at St. Edward Church. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps and is active with the Poland K. of C., having attained the third and fourth degrees. He was in business for many years with his father and brothers at L.J. Schuler & amp; Sons Inc. and is semiretired.
The couple are members of St. Dominic Church, where Mrs. Schuler is active in the choir and Legion of Mary. They have been coordinators for the Eucharistic Adoration program at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for 10 years as well as part of the Adoration program at St. Dominic. Mrs. Schuler also is a lay minister of the Eucharist to shut-ins.
The couple lived in Austintown for 35 years, where they were members of Immaculate Heart of Mary parish.
