XYOUNGSTOWN -- A reception was held May 31 at the Avon Oaks Ballroom in Girard to honor Winston E. Higgins Sr. and his bride, the former Bessie M. Reese, both of 773 Fairmont Ave., who were married earlier that day at Antioch Baptist Church.
The Rev. Ernest Ellis presided at the 1 p.m. wedding ceremony for the daughter of Mrs. Mattie P. Walker, 1865 Stokes St., Montgomery, Ala., and the son of Mrs. Freddie L. Higgins, 1372 Dryden Ave.
After a wedding trip to Atlantic City, the couple live in Youngstown. The bride is employed at Second National Bank in Warren.
The bride's white lace gown was enhanced with pearls and featured a V-neckline with a heart design providing back interest.
Navy, white and silver gowns were worn by the honor attendants, Dorthy Walker and Victoria Stevenson, and the bridesmaids, Gwen Reese, the bride's cousin; Regina Reese-Walker, her niece; and Paulette Armstrong. Junior bridesmaid was LaChelle Higgins, and flower girls were Shamar Higgins and Alexis Dean, all granddaughters of the groom.
Jessie Davis served as best man, and groomsmen were Winston Higgins Jr. and Marcus Higgins, the groom's sons; Devon Boss; and Ray Clark. The groom's grandson, Dominique Higgins, was ring bearer, and ushers were David Johnson and Mathias Robinson.
