BASEBALL
BB Rooners -- of the Greater Akron Baseball Federation has tryouts for the fall program and next summer's team. The team plays 70 games in the summer, including tournament trips to Troy, Dayton, Michigan and West Virginia. The fall program consists of 35-40 games and a trip to Columbus. Liberty Township Baseball Association -- will hold a tournament for 9-10 and 11-12-year-old community all-star teams from Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties and Western Pennsylvania. No traveling all-star teams are allowed. Deadline to register is July 6. More information may be obtained by calling Brett Fine at (330) 759-8091.
Warren Harding High School -- is where Baseball Systems and BB Rooners of the Greater Akron baseball Federation will conduct a college baseball showcase on July 31 at 5:30 p.m. for palyers ages 14-18. Cost is $35. To register, call Bryan Warner at (724) 588-3621.
FOOTBALL OFFICIATING
Ursuline High School -- is where the Ohio High School Athletic Association and Youngstown District Football Officials Association are sponsoring a required course for anyone interested in becoming a high school football official. SOCCER
Howland Township Park -- is where the Howland High varsity soccer program will conduct the annual camp for playes ages 6 through grade eight. Dates are July 21-24 from 5-7 p.m. Cost is $30. Soccer fundamentals including passing, shooting, trapping and ballhandling will be stressed as will team fundamentals. The Howland varsity players will teach.
