Orioles 6, Yankees 3
BALTIMORE -- Rodrigo Lopez allowed one run over 62/3 innings and the Baltimore Orioles battered Mike Mussina, ending the New York Yankees' eight-game winning streak.
Melvin Mora homered and Tony Batista and B.J. Surhoff each drove in two runs for the Orioles, who snapped a five-game losing streak.
Lopez (2-4) scattered 12 hits, walked none and struck out six as Baltimore halted a nine-game losing streak to the Yankees.
Mussina (10-5) endured his shortest outing of the season, lasting only 22/3 innings.
Tigers 5, Blue Jays 0
DETROIT -- Matt Roney allowed just one infield hit in seven innings to earn his first career win.
The only hit off Roney (1-2) came with two outs in the second inning when Orlando Hudson hit a hard one-hopper that deflected off second baseman Shane Halter's glove for a single. Roney retired the next 16 batters before being lifted for Fernando Rodney.
White Sox 6, Twins 1
CHICAGO -- Frank Thomas homered and drove in three runs to help Mark Buehrle earned his fourth straight win.
Buehrle (6-10), a 19-game winner last season, gave up one run and eight hits in eight-plus innings, continuing his turnaround from a 2-10 start.
The only run Buehrle gave up was a solo homer to Matthew LeCroy to lead off the ninth. Tom Gordon got the final three outs.
Devil Rays 4, Red Sox 3, 11 innings
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Rocco Baldelli scored from second base on Brandon Lyon's errant pickoff throw with two outs in the bottom of the 11th inning.
Lance Carter (5-3) pitched three innings in relief to get the win.
Angels 7, Rangers 5
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Bengie Molina hit a three-run homer off Ismael Valdes (6-5) and Troy Glaus added a solo shot for Anaheim.
Jarrod Washburn (7-9) snapped a personal four-game losing streak despite allowing two homers to Michael Young and Alex Rodriguez's 21st home run of the season.
Athletics 3, Mariners 2, 11 innings
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Pinch-hitter Terrence Long hit a game-tying single and scored the winning run on Jermaine Dye's sacrifice fly as Oakland rallied to beat Seattle in 11 innings.
After Ben Davis gave Seattle a 2-1 lead with an RBI single in the top of the 11th against Keith Foulke (5-1), the A's rallied in the bottom half to move within six games of the first-place Mariners in the AL West.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Marlins 20, Braves 1
MIAMI -- Rookie Miguel Cabrera homered twice and the Florida Marlins set a team record for runs in a game delayed after a photographer was hit in the head by a flying bat.
The Marlins matched a team mark with 25 hits, with Cabrera, Ivan Rodriguez and Luis Castillo each getting four.
Braves starter Mike Hampton (3-5) was tagged for nine runs and 10 hits in four innings.
Phillies 4, Cubs 3
PHILADELPHIA -- Mike Lieberthal's two-out RBI single in the ninth inning led Philadelphia to their seventh consecutive victory.
Mets 7, Expos 6
NEW YORK -- Pinch-hitter Tony Clark singled home Joe McEwing with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, giving the New York Mets a win.
Giants 5, Cardinals 1
ST. LOUIS -- Spot starter Jim Brower allowed one run in six innings and Jose Cruz Jr. homered in a five-run first.
Rockies 7, Diamondbacks 4
DENVER -- Arizona's 12-game winning streak ended when Ronnie Belliard hit a tiebreaking home run in the seventh inning for Colorado.
Astros 6, Brewers 5, 10 innings
HOUSTON -- Gregg Zaun's sacrifice fly with the bases loaded in the 10th inning rallied Houston.
After Houston closer Billy Wagner couldn't hold a 4-3 lead in the top of the ninth inning, the Astros tied it at 5 in the bottom half on Geoff Blum's solo homer off Mike DeJean.
Padres 7, Dodgers 1
LOS ANGELES -- Ryan Klesko homered to lead off San Diego's six-run seventh inning against Hideo Nomo, leading the Padres past Los Angeles.
Nomo (9-7) allowed only two hits through six scoreless innings but couldn't retire any of the six batters he faced in the seventh, losing to San Diego for the third time in three starts this season.
Brian Lawrence (5-9) allowed one run and five hits in six innings to get the win.
