Wreck kills man
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Wet roads were the cause of a fatal car crash on Pa. Route 108, said Pennsylvania State Police. Joshua Hohmann, 23, of RD 3, Slippery Rock, died after he was ejected from his car at 7:10 a.m. Monday, they said. Hohmann's car crossed the center line and crashed into a van driven by Cathy McCurdy, 52, of Taylor Street, New Castle. Police said McCurdy had minor injuries.
DUI suspected
SALEM -- Alcohol is suspected in a one-car accident that sent three people to area hospitals late Monday night. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Zebulon DelRio, 20, of Alliance, was driving north on Winona Road, Salem Township, shortly before midnight when his car went off the right side of the road and hit a tree. DelRio was flown by helicopter to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where his condition was not available this morning.
His passengers, Rhonda Cline, 19, of Unity Road, Salem, and Justin Capps, 20, of St. Jacobs-Logtown Road, Leetonia, were treated at Salem Community Hospital.
Neither DelRio nor his passengers were wearing seat belts, the patrol said. No citations have been issued.

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A meeting is set for 6:30 tonight in city hall council chambers to discuss the road milling project on Mercer Street.
Restaurant worker robbed
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Police are looking for a man who robbed a Burger King employee making a bank deposit. Authorities said the man cornered an employee as she was exiting her car at First National Bank on East Washington Street. The woman handed over about $1,000 after the man threatened to shoot her and started slamming her against the car door, police said. A second Burger King employee who was following the woman jumped on the robber, but the man ran off. Police said he is black, 5 feet, 6 inches tall to 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a mustache, weighing about 170 pounds.

CAMPBELL -- Police are seeking information about who sent a package containing two dolls with straight pins stuck in their eyes to a Whipple Avenue woman.
The woman believes the package she received Saturday was sent by the same person who sent her a letter and birthday card a few weeks ago. She told police she's also received threatening telephone calls, including one on her birthday, and believes the same person is responsible.
Police reports state that the woman has received two calls in the past two months from a man who said that he wants to go out with her and threatened to kill her dogs if she declined. The woman also told police that the caller made derogatory remarks about her husband.
Car stolen at church
CAMPBELL -- Police are searching for an automobile left in a church parking lot after a wedding. Police reports state the owner left his 2000 Cadillac Escalade in the lot of St. John's Church, 159 Reed Ave., about 2 p.m. Saturday to ride in a limousine. When he returned Sunday around 6:45 p.m., the report states, the vehicle was gone; about 20 CDs were also in the vehicle.
Accident at car auction
HUBBARD -- Three people were taken to an area hospital after an accident at a car auction site. Emiliano Ramos, 66, of Burghill, was pulling into the Pa.-Ohio Auto Auction on Youngstown-Hubbard Road at 2:40 p.m. Monday when he drove into a group of people, hit a truck, then hit the wall of the building, police said.
The vehicle was impounded. Detective Michael Begeot said police are investigating whether its gas pedal stuck.
Ramos, along with Muawiyah K. Naser, 46, of Youngstown, and Donald T. Richards, 70, of Hubbard, who were in the crowd struck by the car, were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. No condition reports or damage estimate were available. No charges have been filed.
Woman wins lottery
CLEVELAND -- Marilyn Gozik of Masury won the top prize of $100,000 in the Thursday drawing of the Buckeye 5 lottery game. The Ohio Lottery Commission said Gozik let the computer at Mr. D's Food Fair on Warren-Sharon Road in Brookfield pick what turned out to be the winning numbers. She filed for her prize at the Austintown regional lottery office.
