Workshop for writers
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Author Susan Dexter will lead the fiction writers' workshop "Where Writers Become Authors" from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Jerry Stigliano's Book Source on State Street. The discussion topic is trouble-shooting a story.
Participants may have up to 10 typewritten pages of their work evaluated by Dexter after a workshop and are encouraged to bring short selections to share with the group. Fiction writers of all levels of experience are invited. There is a $10 registration fee and reservations are suggested. They can be made at (724) 981-0777 or at the front counter of the Book Source.
Pig Iron Poets to perform
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Pig Iron Poets, sponsored by Pig Iron Press of Youngstown, will perform at the Youngstown State University Summer Festival of the Arts on Saturday and next Sunday at the McDonough Museum of the Arts, 410 Wick Ave. Poetry readings will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. both days. The Saturday reading will be on the south terrace, and the Sunday reading will be in Gallery A.
