WUSA's Spirit rallies for victory over CyberRays

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Aly Wagner and Julie Fleeting scored to rally the San Diego Spirit to a 2-1 victory Sunday night over the San Jose CyberRays in a WUSA game filled with cautions and ejections.
Both teams lost key players in the first half due to ejections.
In the fifth minute, San Diego's Joy Fawcett pulled down Keri Sanchez during an offensive push by the CyberRays (5-7-1). Fawcett was red carded in a controversial call.
Sissi converted the resulting free kick from 20 yards that sailed left of the defensive wall and eluded diving goalie Jenni Branam into the left corner of the net.
Leading 1-0 in the 46th minute, San Jose's Pretinha was given a second yellow card for a disagreement with the referee.
Because Pretinha also received a yellow in the 24th minute for undercutting, she was automatically ejected.
Wagner then converted a 19-yard free kick over the CyberRays' defensive wall and past goalie LaKeysia Beene for a 1-1 tie.
In the second half, San Diego (5-3-4) took a 2-1 lead after Julie Fleeting kicked a 12-yard shot past an onrushing Beene.
Midway through the second half, San Jose had several near-misses.
In the 65th minute, Katia fired a 16-yard shot wide left by a yard. One minute later, Sanchez kicked a sinking 15-yard shot that Branam scooped up.
