Sharon man faces charges after chase
SHARON, Pa. -- Sharon Police have charged David Pope, 45, of Ayers Street, Youngstown, with aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding police and recklessly endangering another person after his car rammed into a police car.
Police said Pope was formally charged after his release Sunday from Sharon Regional Hospital. He had been taken there after a Thursday night crash that ended in Hubbard Township.
Hermitage police were chasing Pope's car in the theft of an air conditioner from Kmart in Hermitage Town Plaza around 7:45 p.m. Sharon Police said Pope's car rammed into a Sharon cruiser at U.S. Route 62 and Budd Street and then continued west to Ohio.
The officer was not hurt.
The pursuit ended when Pope reached Hubbard and crashed into a Hubbard Township cruiser. Three other men in Pope's car were taken to Youngstown hospitals for treatment.
Sharon Police have not filed any charges against those men.
