100th anniversary
WARREN -- Grace United Methodist Church, 1725 Drexel N.W., will celebrate its 100th anniversary at 9:45 a.m. July 13. The service will feature messages from the pastor, the Rev. Warren Outhwaite, and guest pastor, the Rev. David Tenant, who grew up in the church. Special music will be provided by the 100th Anniversary Choir, under the leadership of music director Lyle Thompson, and the Warren Brass Quintet. hGroup to perform
NORTH LIMA -- Tangled Blue will be in concert at 7 p.m. Thursday in Good Hope Lutheran Church.
Tangled Blue incorporates electronic percussion and acoustic and electric guitars. It began in 1995 at Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn. In 2001, two members, Aimee and Joel Pakan, were married. They began performing together as Tangled Blue and completed their first recording earlier this year. An offering will be taken. Man of the Year
MINERAL RIDGE -- First Presbyterian Church recently recognized Ron Garland as Churchman of the Year. Garland, a church elder, has served on the session of the church, many church committees and was the financial secretary for several years. He has participated in CROP walks and has been the chief cook at Easter breakfasts.
Summer youth outreach
CANFIELD -- Christian Life Center will sponsor "GRAVIT8" from 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays this summer. The outreach program will offer ramps and rails for skateboarding, basketball, volleyball, foosball, and a large-screen TV for video games. It's open to youths age 11-18. The cost is $2.
Survivor, pastor to speak
POLAND -- New Life Assembly of God will feature two speakers in July. Sujo John, a survivor of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, will speak at 6 p.m. July 6. He will discuss the experience and excerpts from his book, "Do You Know Where You Are Going?" A Vietnamese minister, Moses Cao, will speak at 7 p.m. July 11 and 12 and at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. July 13. Polka Mass planned
CAMPBELL -- St. Joseph the Provider Church will celebrate a Polka Mass at 4 p.m. Sunday. The Mass will be held in a tent in conjunction with the parish festival. Music will be by Del Rezek.
Summer programs
YOUNGSTOWN -- First Unitarian Church will have lectures and programs as part of its Universal Cafe Arts and Lecture series. The events, all at 7 p.m. Mondays, begin July 7 with "Wick Park/Neighborhood Revitalization Vision" with a talk by architect David Reed.
Other topics are dates are: "Where have all the Farmers Gone?" on agriculture and food supplies; July 14; "Where have all the Civil Liberties Gone?" on the Patriot Act, July 21; "African Drum Beats" on drumming and rhythms, July 28; Talk by U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-17th, Aug. 4; "Music at Madison," Aug. 11; and "Sez You," panels competing in a game, Aug. 18. The cost is $2.
Novena scheduled
YOUNGSTOWN -- Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church will hold a novena to St. Therese of the Child Jesus at 5:30 p.m. Thursdays for nine weeks beginning July 31. Recitation of the rosary begins at 5:15 p.m. Call (330) 743-5291.
