Sting 69, Sun 55
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Andrea Stinson scored 15 points and Teana McKiver added 14 points and a career-high nine rebounds as the Charlotte Sting beat the Connecticut Sun for their sixth straight home victory.
Shannon Johnson led Connecticut (6-7) with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Nykesha Sales added 10 points.
After missing on all eight 3-point attempts in the first half, the Sting rebounded in the second half. Stinson, Shalonda Enis and Allison Feaster combined to hit four treys in the first eight minutes to open a 15-point lead.
The Sting (8-5) took a 31-28 halftime lead despite shooting 31 percent from the field. But they made 13 of 14 free throws and McKiver had a terrific half.
The undrafted rookie out of Tulane scored 12 points and had six offensive rebounds before the break despite playing only eight minutes. McKiver came into the game averaging 3.2 points a game.
Comets 64, Silver Stars 49
HOUSTON -- Michelle Snow scored a career-high 19 points and added eight rebounds as Houston beat San Antonio.
Tina Thompson added 19 points for the Comets (7-7). Gwen Jackson scored 15 points and Marie Ferdinand added 10 for the Silver Stars (5-9).
Houston led by as many as 19 points in the first half. But the Silver Stars used an 11-5 run in the final 3:31 of the half to close to 34-21 at the break. Snow led all scorers with 10 points at halftime. The Comets' offense stalled in the second half, and the Silver Stars cut the lead to 48-45 with 7:16 remaining. That's when Snow and Thompson led a 10-0 run to put the game out of reach.
