Yoga classes will beginat St. Joseph on July 7
St. Joseph Health Center offers a seven-session beginning yoga class for adults only from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Mondays from July 7 to Aug. 18. The cost of the program, taught by Dawn Perhacs, certified yoga instructor from the Kripalu Yoga and Health Center, Lenox, Mass., is $57. Call toll free (877) 700-4647.
Camp Friendship sign-up
The American Cancer Society invites youths being treated for cancer or in remission from cancer to register for Camp Friendship programs this summer. Tuition costs are paid by ACS.
Camp Friendship North and South programs for youths ages 7-15 are, respectively, in Strongsville from July 20-26; and in Clarksville from Aug. 3-9. Camp Friendship Teen Weekend program, for ages 16-19, is in Strongsville from July 11-14.
ACS is also seeking volunteer camp counselors who are 21 years of age or older. Being a cancer survivor is a plus but not necessary. Camp sponsors willing to underwrite expenses of the camp are also being sought, as well as oncology physicians, registered nurses, and art and music therapists to volunteer at the camp.

Local schools honoredfor health education
The American Cancer Society's Ohio Division and the Ohio Department of Health designated several area schools as Gold winners of the Governor's Buckeye Best Healthy Schools Award, which honors schools for making health a priority, particularly in the areas of tobacco, nutrition and physical education.
The schools include: East Palestine Elementary, David Anderson Junior/Senior High, East Liverpool High, East Palestine High, East Elementary, Southern Local Primary Elementary, LaCroft Elementary, Leetonia High, North Elementary, Leetonia Middle, United Elementary, East Palestine Middle Westgate Elementary and Middle, Hayes Middle, Lowellville High, Springfield Elementary, Frank Ohl Middle, Rayen High, Canfield Village Middle, Girard Senior High and Hubbard High.
