Cell phones, pagersdistract from tourney
Fanfare:
Another exciting and successful LPGA tournament has come and gone.
After attending this event every year since its inception, I found it to be the worst year for ringing of cell phones and pagers during tournament play.
I find it embarrassing to have officials reminding the crowd to turn off these devices when it is clearly posted to do so everywhere on the course grounds.
I have to assume that the violators are either illiterate or ignorant or both. This was very annoying.
I suggest to next year's organizers that anyone caught breaking this standard of etiquette either have their device confiscated or be escorted off of the course for that day. Maybe that would solve the problem.
Let's smarten up and be considerate of someone other then ourselves.
