School district has chanceat getting federal grant
MINERAL RIDGE -- Weathersfield Local Schools can still take advantage of a federal grant of up to $80,000 to make district buildings handicap-accessible.
Treasurer Angela Lewis and Superintendent Rocco Adduci said the district lost out on a grant through the American Disabilities Act because the previous superintendent did not sign the original application and the previous treasurer failed to submit vouchers for grant reimbursement after a ramp and automatic doors were installed.
Lewis said the district found out about the error because the ADA mailed a letter asking if it still wanted to take advantage of the grant.
The previous projects have been denied for reimbursement, but administrators are looking for other ideas for projects which may be covered by the ADA grant.
