2010

2010
What they're up to
The committees and their subcommittees that are meeting to carry out the Youngstown 2010 vision, with some specifics on their initial work:
NEW NEIGHBORHOODS
1. Neighborhood-based planning.
2. Housing for emerging markets.
Assess the assets, such as institutions, block watches and churches, in each of the five main planning areas of the city. (Those are the four sides of town and the downtown.) Get people involved in future neighborhood planning.
NEW ECONOMY:
1. Economic wealth and jobs.
2. Commercial centers.
3. Downtown economy.
Gather information and ideas on improving downtown.
NEW IMAGE:
1. Subcommittees likely will form later.
Design a billboard to keep people involved in the 2010 process; determine the scope of marketing the city.
CLEAN AND GREEN*:
1. Fix-up, cleanup and beautification.
2. Natural amenities:
Inventory the physical condition of each side of town and put the information into a database as a reference.
*Expected to meet for the first time in the next few weeks.
