Grandparents of Catholic schoolchildren across the Mahoning Valley will be spending time this week with pupils as part of Catholic Schools Week celebrations. Above, Ron Zagorsky of Struthers focuses on grandson Anthony Rivera, 6, of Youngstown, at St. Nicholas School in Struthers as the first- grader munches on a treat during "cookie fest." At right, Grace Pape of Struthers and her first-grade grandson, Daniel Pape, 7, of Struthers, explore "a far away land" on a board in the back of a school computer classroom. Grandparents also attended a prayer service with the children. The theme for Catholic schools across the nation this week is "Catholic Schools: Making a World of Difference." Besides family and "special people" days, schools in the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown will have various events, including prayer services, community appreciation events, dances, fun nights, spelling bees, science fairs, sledding and trips.
