Irizarry changes to OSU

The Ursuline senior has changed his mind again and now plans to be a Buckeye.

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Ohio State Buckeyes landed one of their own -- again.
According to several reports, Ursuline senior tight end Louis Irizarry has re-committed to the Buckeyes, just weeks after switching his commitment to the University of Miami.
"I feel like I am at home," Irizarry, who did not return messages to The Vindicator Friday night, told Bucknuts.com. "I am at peace now. I learned to be careful in the process. I am glad it's over."
Irizarry originally committed to Ohio State last summer, but had second thoughts after seeing Miami better utilize the tight end in its offense.
But the Hurricanes have several tight ends on scholarship -- including Kellen Winslow Jr. and junior college transfer Kevin Everett -- creating a logjam at the position.
Irizarry reportedly contacted Ohio State coach Jim Tressel Wednesday night and also has contacted Miami officials.
Player of the year
The 6-foot, 5-inch, 230-pound tight end was this season's Vindicator player of the year after helping lead the Irish to the Division IV state semifinal game.
He caught 36 passes for 823 yards and nine touchdowns, earning first-team all-Steel Valley Conference, all-district and all-Ohio honors.
Irizarry also was a standout punter, averaging 43.2 yards per punt this season. As a defensive player for the Irish, he recorded 62 tackles and two sacks.
He also played in the U.S. Army All-American game in San Antonio earlier this month.
He is ranked among the top five tight ends in the country and is widely regarded to be Ohio's top tight end prospect.
He was a four-year starter at Ursuline and was named this year's Division IV district offensive player of the year.
He is an honor student at Ursuline and will major in engineering.
Irizarry is the only area player to verbally commit to the Buckeyes.
Warren Harding defensive back Prescott Burgess was recruited by Ohio State, but verbally committed to Michigan earlier this month.
