YOUNGSTOWN Board of control

The city's board of control approved these spending items Thursday:
A $2.05 million contract with Waste Management of Ohio to pick up residential garbage, a 6 percent drop from the previous contract. The bid price is $5.29 per household per month. Waste Management was the lowest bidder. The previous contract with Waste Management was for $2.2 million, or $5.63 per household per month.
A $60,000 contribution from the city's Community Development Agency to the Youngstown Playhouse, $30,000 as a grant and $30,000 as a loan. The contribution keeps the Playhouse open and prevents bank foreclosure, city officials said.
Payment of $3,500 to Claudia Harris as a settlement for wrongful demolition of a home.
A $157,412 purchase of a sewer and catch basin cleaner mounted on a diesel truck from Best Equipment Co.
A lease with Alltel Communications to put a telecommunications tower at Oakland Field.
