Reznor lays off 100 employees
MERCER, Pa. -- A manufacturer of heaters and air equipment for the commercial and industrial markets has laid off about one-third of its work force.
Reznor, located at 150 McKinley Ave., has furloughed about 15 salaried and technical workers as well as 85 hourly production people, said Tricia Bergeron, spokeswoman for Thomas & amp; Betts Corp. of Memphis, Tenn., which owns Reznor.
The company had a work force of 330 people before the layoffs.
"That is a seasonal facility," Bergeron said, referring to the Reznor plant.
It's not uncommon for layoffs at the plant around this time each year, although this cutback may have come a bit earlier than usual because of the state of the economy, she said.
The salaried and technical workers were laid off in December. The hourly cutbacks were effective Friday.
