UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Roman Cechmanek made 24 saves for his first shutout of the season, and Eric Desjardins had a goal and assist in the Philadelphia's victory over the New York Islanders. The Flyers have won five straight and snapped New York's seven-game streak of earning at least one point (6-0-0-1). Pavel Brendl, Jeremy Roenick and Marty Murray also scored for the Flyers.
Thrashers 3, Lightning 2, OT
TAMPA, Fla. -- Ilya Kovalchuk scored his second goal of the game with 15.2 seconds left in overtime as Atlanta beat Southeast Division-leading Tampa Bay. Kovalchuk scored from the right circle soon after Atlanta goalie Byron Dafoe stopped Vincent Lecavalier on a breakaway. Lecavalier and Dave Andreychuk scored power-play goals in the third period as the Lightning rallied to a 2-2 tie.
Canadiens 3, Rangers 2
MONTREAL -- Marcel Hossa scored his second goal in as many games since being recalled from the minors to lift Montreal over the New York Rangers. Hossa scored with 13:37 left in the third period as Montreal ended a season-high seven-game winless streak. The teams were tied 2-2 in the first period. Defensemen Karl Dykhuis and Andrei Markov also scored for the Canadiens.
Mighty Ducks 5, Avalanche 3
DENVER -- Petr Sykora's second goal of the game broke a tie with 1:18 left in the third period, and Anaheim rallied to beat Colorado. Anaheim, which trailed 2-0 late in the first period and 3-2 late in the second, accounted for the final margin on Keith Carney's empty-net goal at 19:30. Jason Krog also scored twice for Anaheim, which snapped a five-game losing streak on the road.

CALGARY, Alberta -- Wade Redden scored the game's only goal in the first period and Patrick Lalime made 21 saves for his third shutout of the season as financially troubled Ottawa beat Calgary. On the same day they filed for bankruptcy protection, the Senators showed why they are the No. 1 team in the Eastern Conference. The lone goal came on a power play with 1:57 left in the first period.
Blues 4, Sharks 1
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Keith Tkachuk scored two goals, and Brent Johnson made 21 saves as St. Louis beat slumping San Jose. Pavol Demitra added a power-play goal for the Blues, who capitalized on penalties by the Sharks to win for just the second time in seven road games. Scott Mellanby and Doug Weight each had two assists for the Blues, who are two games into their longest road trip of the season.
Oilers 5, Kings 4
LOS ANGELES -- Mike York scored twice and Todd Marchant and Shawn Horcoff each had two assists as Edmonton beat Los Angeles. Marty Reasoner, Ales Hemsky and Eric Brewer also scored, helping extend the Oilers' unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-1). Eric Belanger scored in his first game back from the injured list and Los Angeles teammate Steve Heinze ended a 35-game goal drought with his first in almost a year.
Stars 4, Blackhawks 3, OT
DALLAS -- Pierre Turgeon scored with 16.4 seconds left in overtime to lift Dallas over Chicago. Sergei Berezin scored twice for Chicago, including the tying goal in the third period, as the Blackhawks rallied from a two-goal deficit. Bill Guerin and Rob DiMaio scored during an 18-second span early in the second period to give the Stars a 3-1 lead.
