NHL head coach: Columbus Blue Jackets 2000-2003. Regular season record 64-106-21-13. Calgary Flames 1992-1995. Regular season record 109-76-31. Playoff record 8-12-0. King's best season was 1993-94 when the Flames were 42-29-13, good for first place in the Pacific Division.
International coach: Japanese national team 1995, 1996. Canadian World Championship team 1983, 1987, 1989-1992. Canadian Olympic team 1984, 1988, 1992. Canadian Junior team 1982-1984.
General Manager: Japanese Olympic Team 1998.
Milestones:
Coached the Canadian National Hockey team that won the silver medal at the 1992 Olympic Games.
Coached the Canadians in four World Hockey Championships.
Coached the Canadian team that won the gold medal at the 1982 World Junior Championships.
Received the WHL coach-of-the-year honors with the Billings Bighorns in 1978.
Selected Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union Coach of the Year in 1980.
Chosen Hockey News International Sportsman of the Year in 1991.
Inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 1995.
