Columbus Day Committee elects slate

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Greater Columbus Day Committee of the Mahoning Valley met Dec. 30 at the home of Timothy Komara, where election of officers for the club's 107th year was held.
Those elected to leadership positions were Komara, general chairman; Theresa Carano, vice chairman; Lyda Benish, secretary; John Carano, treasurer; May Tisone, Joe Grenga and Carmel DePaul, trustees; and Fred Cannel, Leonard Mancini and Phyllis Pixler, members-at-large committee.
The organization is a conglomeration of representatives from Italian lodges and organizations in the Valley who meet and plan functions to help perpetuate the memory of Christopher Columbus' discovery of America.
