Block watch meeting
YOUNGSTOWN -- Residents of the 4th and 5th wards are invited to attend a meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at 517 S. Belle Vista Ave., Order of Franciscan Fathers. Those attending will discuss forming a block watch, one that would possibly include smaller, current block watches, said Geri DeLuca, vice president of the West Side Citizens League. DeLuca said there is a need for West Side residents to protect themselves. She said she has invited Democratic and Republican precinct committee people.
Legislative brunch
HOWLAND -- Reservations are due by Jan. 20 for the Trumbull County League of Women Voters' annual legislative brunch at 10 a.m. Jan. 25 at Avalon Inn. Cost is $10. Call Sandy Lamantia at (330) 856-4480 or Fran Wilson at (330) 545-2023. The league has invited U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, D-17th; state Sen. Mark Dann of Liberty, Trumbull County commissioners and the mayors of Trumbull County communities. Officeholders who attend will inform the audience of what is important to them and answer questions.
