Crazy critters
No room for a pet? Kids can make their own crazy critter by carefully following these directions. Start by blowing up a balloon as large as possible. Clamp the end of the balloon shut with a paperclip or clothespin. Allow the balloon to stretch for five to 10 minutes.
Deflate the balloon, and attach it to a funnel. Mix five tablespoons of water, 1/3 cup of quick-setting plaster of Paris and one tablespoon of tempera paint in a large measuring cup until smooth. Pour the plaster mixture into the balloon. Then, remove the funnel and tie the balloon shut.
Stretch the balloon into any shape, and hold it until the plaster begins to become firm. Let the plaster set for 1 hour. Tear the balloon off the plaster shape. Then, paint and decorate your crazy critter with glitter and feathers.
