US Airways servicereturns to Erie
ERIE, Pa. -- US Airways service returned to Erie International Airport on Sunday and by next month the airport could have more daily departures -- and two more airlines -- than it did before the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
A 50-passenger US Airways jet will leave Pittsburgh daily at 9:25 a.m., arrive in Erie at 10:15 a.m and then depart for Pittsburgh at 11:30 a.m.
Before Sept. 11 impacted the travel industry, US Airways -- which has since filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection -- served Erie with four full-sized jets and two regional jets daily. The airline had pulled jet service from Erie on Jan. 5, 2001.
Although US Airways has no immediate plans to add more Erie flights, the airport could have up to eight jet departures each day by mid-February.
That's because Northwest Airlink has since introduced jet service to Detroit, and Delta's Comair has announced plans for jet service to Cincinnati starting Jan. 20. Northwest Airlink is offering four flights a day and Comair plans to offer three.

COLUMBUS -- Stock prices of 63 of 100 large publicly held companies in Ohio fell in 2002, following the nation's markets as corporate accounting scandals and concerns about terrorism and war shook investor confidence.
The prices of at least 12 companies plummeted more than 50 percent, including Goodyear Tire & amp; Rubber Co., which saw its share price fall 71 percent from $23.81 to $6.81. That company faced sagging shipments of consumer replacement tires amid a cut in its credit rating.
