LeBron James Show excels again in West

He led Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary to a 64-58 win at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion.
LOS ANGELES, (AP) -- Darryl Strawberry's son couldn't stop LeBron James, but he managed to slow him down.
Despite a relatively off night, James and his top-ranked Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary team held off D.J. Strawberry and No. 5 Santa Ana Mater Dei in a 64-58 victory Saturday night before a sellout crowd in the 12,000-seat Pauley Pavilion and a national television audience on ESPN2.
Strawberry held James to 21 points, his second lowest total of the season, on 8-of-24 shooting.
James, who's expected to skip college and become the top pick in the 2003 NBA draft, also had 9 rebounds and 7 assists, both game highs, as the Fighting Irish improved to 8-0.
Wesley Washington, who has signed with Minnesota, led Mater Dei (15-2) with 18. Marcell Jones added 14.
Most talked about player
James has become perhaps the most talked-about high school player ever following appearances on the covers of Sports Illustrated, ESPN the Magazine and other publications.
For his Pauley Pavilion appearance on the Fighting Irish's coast-to-coast tour, about 150 media credentials were issued and about a dozen pro scouts attended.
James' first shot of the game was an airball. He missed his next five attempts before making a lay-up with 1:18 remaining in the first quarter. James also had a flashy assist on a backwards bounce pass between his legs to Romeo Travis, who dunked.
Corey Jones and Travis each had 12 points and Joyce added 10 for St. Vincent-St. Mary. Travis and Joyce both have signed with Akron.
