Shoe fits 'Simpsons'
LOS ANGELES -- "The Simpsons" has been used to sell everything from computers to candy bars, and now the family patriarch is getting sporty for Reebok.
Homer, who most recently had it his way with the limited-edition Homer Simpson X-treme Bacon & amp; Cheese Whopper at Burger King, will be featured this month in the company's new print campaign "Mmm ... Classic."
Sporting a pair of Classic Supercourts that are available in a variety of colors and sell for a suggested $60 a pair, Homer will be ready for the basketball court even if he never manages to get off the couch.
Judge Judy's contractreaches $100 million
HOLLYWOOD -- Judge Judy Sheindlin reaped a payout of $25 million a year for four years when she signed a new contract for her syndicated daily court show, "Judge Judy," according to the New York Post's Page 6. That figure would put her in the top pay ranks for TV performers.
The big payday is presumably reward for the show's strong ratings; it led the field among the many court shows on the air.
A gift from Koppel
HOLLYWOOD -- Ted Koppel has taken in stride ABC's failed attempt this year to woo David Letterman to the network, which would have meant the likely end of Koppel's late-night news program "Nightline."
According to trade magazine Broadcasting & amp; Cable, his holiday gift to the staff this year was a bottle of wine with a custom label that read: "Nightline Survivor 2002 Private Reserve" and a gift card that read, "With thanks to another 'Nightline' survivor."
No word on whether the wine was as dry as his sense of humor.
