SEEING THE SIGHTS
At the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, the park is open every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. The visitors center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The site maintains a Web page at www.nps.gov/jica/.

Habitat for Humanity, the nonprofit housing group, organizes the Jimmy Carter Work Project, an annual weeklong effort by volunteers to work alongside the former president to build homes for the poor. The 2003 project will be held June 8-14 in Anniston, LaGrange and Valdosta, Ga.
