Canfield whips Lakeview, 75-27



Leetonia junior Jessica Deville pulled down 19 rebounds to give her a school-record 658 caroms.
CANFIELD -- All 11 varsity players saw action in each of the four quarters as the Canfield High School girls basketball team used a balanced attack to down Lakeview 75-27 Thursday.
Kelly Williams scored 10 points to pace the Cardinals (4-5) who led 24-2 after one quarter and 45-8 at the break.
Canfield had more rebounds (32-18) and fewer turnovers (30-12).
Britini Morello scored six points for the Bulldogs (1-8).
Springfield 87, Mathews 40
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Talley Felger collected 20 points and 15 rebounds for the Tigers (4-5, 2-1 Inter-County League).
Lindsay Johnson contributed 18 points and seven steals while Carrie Davis had nine baskets for 18 points and 12 rebounds for Springfield.
The Tigers used a 25-point second quarter to assume a 53-16 lead at the half.
Tara Ford scored 22 points for the Mustangs.
Leetonia 61, Southern 20
SALINEVILLE -- Junior Jessica Deville pulled down 19 rebounds to give her a school record 658 caroms in her career for the Bears (5-4, 1-2 Tri-County League).
Deville, a 6-foot center, also scored a season-high 26 points and Bri Duko tacked on 10 points.
Stephanie Eastek had the Leetonia record of 653 career rebounds.
By scoring 21 points in the third quarter, the Bears built a 30-10 halftime lead into a 51-12 margin entering the final eight minutes.
Brittany McElroy scored nine points for the Indians.
East Palestine 53, Lisbon 31
EAST PALESTINE -- The Bulldogs (8-0, 3-0 TCL) scored 26 points in the third quarter to build upon a 21-9 lead at the break.
Kelly Flory scored 15 points for the Blue Devils (0-7, 0-3).
