OCCHA to celebrateThree Kings tradition
YOUNGSTOWN -- Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana Americana Inc. is celebrating its traditional Three Kings Celebration Dance from 7 to midnight Friday. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Music will be by DJ "Chico."
In most Hispanic countries, the children wait for the Three Kings to bring gifts Jan. 6. Some of the children of Puerto Rico gather fresh cut grass and put it into a shoe box and place it under their beds, hoping that the Three Kings give them gifts. The grass is for the camels or horses to eat on their long journey. The Three Kings Celebration Dance is sponsored by the Ohio Arts Council.
OCCHA is also selling Puerto Rican food every Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Jan. 10. You can eat in or carry out.
