No. 11 North Carolina 80, American 42
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Leah Metcalf and La'Tangela Atkinson scored 14 points each. Freshmen Jessica Sell had 11 points, and Kenya McBee added 10 as the Tar Heels (10-1) closed the first half on a 24-2 run.
Chanel Hunt scored 16 points on 8-for-11 shooting and Angel McNatt added 12 points for American (6-5), which lost Monday night at Elon.
North Carolina shot 64 percent in the first half to overcome 10 turnovers in the opening 10:15. American was within 24-17 after Hunt made a 15-footer with 7:56 remaining in the half.
No. 12 Notre Dame 75, Marquette 68
MILWAUKEE -- Jacqueline Batteast had 23 points and 11 rebounds.
LeTania Severe added 21 points, and Courtney LaVere scored 16 and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds for the Fighting Irish (8-2), who rallied from a 39-31 deficit early in the second half.
Marquette (6-3), which had its five-game winning streak snapped, was led by Katie Alsdurf with 18 points, Rachel Klug with 17 and Carolyn Kieger with 16
No. 12 Vanderbilt 66, Charlotte 43
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Chantelle Anderson scored 13 of her game-high 15 points in the second half.
Anderson led a balanced attack for the Commodores (8-2), as Abi Ramsey scored 13 points off the bench.
Charlotte (6-5) took an early 4-0 lead, but Vanderbilt answered with a 17-2 run to take control of the game. Ramsey hit a 3-pointer, then converted a steal into a layup on consecutive possessions to spark the spurt.
No. 16 South Carolina 85, South Carolina St. 42
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Petra Ujhelyi scored a season-high 18 points and tied a career-best with 15 rebounds.
Jocelyn Penn led with 19 points, and Kelly Morrone had 18 points -- shooting 4-of-8 on 3-pointers -- and seven assists for the South Carolina (11-1).
The Gamecocks have won 14 straight at home. Their longest streak there is a 31-game run from February 1977 to March 1980.
Penn also had four steals to reach 299 in her career, breaking the mark set by Rita Johnson in 1981. Penn's last steal came in the final minute of the game.
