Naming the courthouse
YOUNGSTOWN -- A proposal to name the city's second federal courthouse after retired senior U.S. Judge Nathaniel R. Jones, a Youngstown native, is pretty much a done deal, said U.S. Sen. George Voinovich.
The U.S. House and Senate are expected to approve the 2003 Omnibus Appropriations Act, which includes legislation to name the courthouse after Judge Jones, by today, Voinovich said.
The act, which funds the federal government through the year, was approved by a joint House-Senate conference committee.
Judge Jones served 16 years on the U.S. 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati before retiring last year.
