KWANZAA 2003-04 Area events



Several Kwanzaa celebrations will take place at various churches in Youngstown during the seven days of the festival. The events and festivities, sponsored by The Harambee Coalition and Associated Neighborhood Centers, are:
Umoja (unity): The Harambee Youth and others will perform, and it starts at 7 p.m. Friday at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St.
Ujima (collective work and responsibility): Ministerial interpretations of the seven principals will take place. Starts at 4 p.m. Sunday at Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 505 Parkcliff Ave.
Nia (purpose): Mime groups, dancing, skits and soloists to perform. Will begin at 6 p.m. Dec. 30 at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 328 S. Forest St.
Imani (faith): Black vendors, music, dancing and poetry. Begins at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 1 at The McGuffey Centre, 1649 Jacobs Road.
