WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA Laurel subdues Mohawk to end skid and win sixth

BESSEMER, Pa. -- Freshman Corey Collins scored 19 points to lead four Laurel players in double figures as the Spartans defeated Mohawk, 68-62, in Friday's Section II, Class AA game.
The Spartans (6-2) snapped a two-game losing streak. Mike Burkett added 18 points, Bobby Turner 15 and senior Doug Brown 12.
Burkett, a 6-6 junior center, had 14 of his points in the second half. Of Turner's 15 points, the senior scored 11 in the fourth quarter.
Mohawk was led Shawn Carr, a 6-0 senior guard, with a game-high 27 points, including 15 in the final quarter.
Turner had five of Laurel's 16 rebounds while Collins and Burkett each pulled down four.
Carr had six of Mohawk's 26 rebounds while teammate Shane Finnin grabbed five.
Neshannock 49, Shenango 45
SHENANGO, Pa. -- The Lancers (7-1, 1-1) led by four points 37-33 by the end of the third quarter and held on for the victory in the Section II Class AA contest.
Bobby Preston paced Neshannock with 13 points.
Terry Grossetti scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Wildcats (6-3, 1-1). Steve McNees added 14 points, had four assists and four steals. Matt Norge finished with 12 points.
Farrell 47, Riverside 33
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Kellen Newby had 14 points to lead Farrell, which led 26-17 at halftime.
Bobby Wright added nine points for Farrell (4-4).
Jimmy Morgan led Riverside with nine points.
