INTER-COUNTY LEAGUE Springfield powers past Champion for third win



Mark Russell's 25 points led the Tigers to a 60-43 victory.
CHAMPION -- Marc Russell fired in 25 points and Anthony Terlecky added 11 as the unbeaten Springfield High boys basketball team clipped Champion 60-43 Friday in a non-league encounter.
The visting Tigers (3-0) broke away from a close game to lead 43-29 at the end of the third quarter.
Adam Lantz led the Golden Flashes (0-5) with 14 points.
United 68, Western Reserve 61
HANOVERTON -- Mitch Phillis scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead United in a non-league game.
Dale Woolf added 16 points for United (3-0), while Corey Manfulll had 16.
Jake Zatchok led Reserve (2-3) with 14 points, while Dave Ferrando had 12 and Brock Christie scored 11.
The Blue Devils made nine 3-pointers.
Brookfield 72, Mathews 53
VIENNA -- Sam King scored 26 points and Chris Davis added 20 points and 10 rebounds in support for the Warriors (5-0).
Mike Quaqlia also scored 13 points for Brookfield.
Adam Hughes and Ian Paddock paced the Mustangs (2-2), each with 16 points, and Chris Vesey scored 11.
Crestview 79, Lowellville 56
LOWELLVILLE -- A six-point first quarter caught Lowellville off guard while Crestview put up 17 during the same stretch as the Rebels breezed.
Kade Neiheiser had 19 points, Jason Beachler 17 and Ross Mercer and Scott Raschilla 14 apiece for Crestview.
For Lowellville, Vince Broll, a 6-0 junior forward, made 10 of 11 free throws toward his team-high 18 points.
Mario Nero, a 5-10 freshman point guard, had 12 points is his first varsity action.
Justin Smith had seven of Lowellville's 21 rebounds.
